This big variety show features some thirty cast members and five musicians. Its dance, acrobatic, contortionist, and comedy sets strive to be erotic, some are topless, and one is even homoerotic. Those who are new to the Las Vegas entertainment scene appear to be the show’s target audience. Sadly, the famous number with two girls swimming in a large martini glass is now performed in a glass bathtub.
The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas
Whorehouse is a non-topless song and dance musical with a large and enthusiastic cast. Its story, familiar from the eponymous movie, is likely to be perceived differently by tourists than by residents of Nevada, which has dozens of legal brothels. This show is one of only a few casino-based theatrical productions where actors play fictional characters rather than impersonate celebrities.
Defending the Caveman
This amusing one-man play explores how psychological and behavioral gender differences, especially apparent in relationships, are the result of human evolution. The show is very suitably located in a stand-up comedy lounge.
One Voice Starring Bethany Owen
Owen is the only female voice impressionist in Las Vegas with her own solo show. She is charming, perky, and a talented singer. She is also a fast dresser, naughtily changing outfits and wigs between numbers in the back of the stage, while the lights are dimmed. Paradoxically, her closest competitors are the drag queens of Divas and La Cage, who also impersonate female pop stars, albeit by lip-synching.
The King Starring Trent Carlini
The King delivers more entertainment impact than many bigger acts. Elvis impersonator Trent Carlini showcases his vocal talents and considerable stage presence. The beautiful Ashley Belle performs spirited dance routines during and between the songs. Their talents and the mix of song and dance create an engaging experience.
Americas Soul Music The Show
In this absorbing show, a snappily dressed ensemble of four male and three female vocalists, accompanied by five musicians, takes the audience on a tour of the soul music genre. In addition to their singing talents, the group displays considerable dancing skills. The cast’s chemistry makes the duet performances especially memorable.
Robert Davi
Talented actor-singer Robert Davi, a man of much gravitas, performs Frank Sinatra’s songs and discusses Sinatra’s life and career. He is accompanied by a nineteen-piece orchestra—a real big band.
Nathan Burton Comedy Magic
This daytime show caters to a different level of expectations than other magic shows. Burton and his three lovely assistants/dancers perform several variations of the disappearing act. During an audience participation routine, Burton offers a dancer’s hand in marriage to a pre-teen boy. The dancer then comes on stage in a white wedding dress.
Gordie Brown
Brown and his five-member band perform funny parodies of pop hits, chiefly from the ’70s and the ’80s. Brown also does celebrity impressions. The audience clearly finds his subjects relevant—even during the Henry Fonda and Katharine Hepburn sketch. Brown is a talented singer, and his show is entertaining.
Two Kings
An energetic “Michael Jackson” and a charismatic “Elvis” have the moves, the vocals, and the delivery in this small act.
